Towncraft is a relaxing resource gathering, crafting and town building game. Follow these tips and you'll soon have a large prosperous town and lots of money!
Tip 1 : Don't begin your town where you start on the map
It's tempting to just start building where you spawn on the map, but taking your time to explore and finding a good spot that's close to resources like different ore, sand, water, etc will save a lot of time and make things more efficient. Time = money!
It doesn't matter that you don't start crafting right away. Finding the right spot might take some time as you search for resources (see tip 2)
Tip 2 : Uncover more ore
If you hit rocks a couple of times with your pickaxe there's a chance that you can uncover hidden ore. You can discover iron, coal, silver, gold or even gems this way! When you do uncover these follow Tip 3!
Tip 3 : Don't mine out ore - place a mine
If you mine a rock with ore enough times it will be destroyed - nice way to get instant ore but not good for the long run. It's much better to build a mine next to a collection of ores. Every ore that touches the tile the mine is on can be mined from said mine, without destroying the ore.
Remember you can have multiple mines and hire workers for each mine too!
The rare ores like silver, gold and gems are harder to find, with gems sometimes having only one node, so if you want to be able to continue generating gems you must build a mine next to it!
Tip 4 : Hire workers
Once you have enough money you can start hiring workers to do the labour for you. They can perform all the time consuming resources gathering tasks for you and will carry what they've collected to the stockpile. This will leave you free to craft items for profit, or expanding the town, like building more houses for new workers.
Tip 5 : Don't hire a shopkeeper too soon
Shopkeepers are EXPENSIVE and you really need a lot of business and the right kind of goods before they start paying for themselves. I highly recommend that you craft items and sell them directly to the traders that visit you at first. Multiple traders visit your town everyday so it's easy to sell to them!
