Web Africa for local gaming and STEAM

What can I say? Web Africa has been busy - very busy. The last couple of weeks I've had (almost) more bandwidth than I knew what to do with in helping to test out the new network from Web Africa. What's this all about? Well, Web Africa has recently upgraded to a Tier 1 ISP. Their CEO, Matthew Tagg had this to say:

The decision to launch our own ADSL network has been made specifically with our customers in mind. Not only will we now have more freedom to offer new products and services to our users, we will be able to offer the very best service at an affordable price. Our goal is to optimise our network according to what our customers need for their various internet usages.

And the new products have already arrived, with great benefits to their users.

FreeZone "represents an area within [Web Africa's] network where any usage generated, is not deducted from your available bandwidth" and part of this FreeZone is their own gaming service : WAGE (Web Africa Gaming Experience). This means that Web Africa clients can play games onlinei on the WAGE servers without having to worry about bandwidth... How great is that?

Just as great is that Web Africa is also looking to host a local STEAM Content Server. And yes, this will also be included in the FreeZone network. You can read more about it on the Web Africa blog.

Congrats to Web Africa - they've made it feel like Christmas has come early this year. I cannot say how happy I am to be a Web Africa user at the moment. They have made me proud, and I cannot wait to see what else they'll come up with in the future. This is a step in the right direction and I hope other ISPs take note.
